Love, Janis
Conceived & adapted by Randal Myler
Inspired by the book, “Love, Janis” by Laura Joplin
Tucson March 22 – April 9, 2007
Phoenix April 14 – May 19, 2007
There are blues singers, hippies and rock stars…then there’s
Janis Joplin. She gave a piece of her heart with every song and
her powerful voice and explosive presence electrified a generation.
Crafted from Janis’ letters home to her family, her journey
from small-town girl to rock-and-roll icon comes alive in this thrilling
musical by the creator of Hank Williams: Lost Highway. All
her biggest hit songs from “Me and Bobby McGee” to “Ball
and Chain” are woven with glimpses of her internal life, creating
a complex portrait of the queen of the Summer of Love. A rocking
Arizona premiere of this international hit!
Contains loud music (of course!)
Listen to Julie
Bierach’s interview with Joel Hoekstra, Lisa Otey and Cathy
Richardson on KUAZ’s Arizona Spotlight - including excerpts
from “Turtle Blues,” “Mercedes Benz” and
“Me and Bobby McGee” (8,506KB MP3)
