FROM JESSICA ANDREWS,
Executive Director
As I celebrate my thirteen season with Arizona Theatre Company, the theatre is at a point in its 42nd year to undertake something very exciting; something that we’ve all dreamed about for a long time – taking the steps necessary to solidify ATC’s future for many years to come.
Although I am delighted to report that the theatre balanced its latest fiscal year’s operating budget, the last several seasons have been financially challenging for the organization. Like all not-for-profit performing arts organizations, there are cycles of surpluses and deficits and it becomes difficult to plan for the future if theatre is always on a financial roller coaster.
Therefore, last January our Board of Trustees engaged an outside firm to conduct a Major Gifts Campaign Study to determine if ATC was in a position in both Tucson and Phoenix to undertake a much larger fundraising effort than our typical annual fund campaign. I’m happy to report that the findings were very positive and the Board has moved forward with a major gifts campaign.
