SPRING FASHION EVENTS at ATC

DRAMA QUEENS ON THE GREEN - PHOENIX
The Arizona Theatre Company Associates, Arizona Theatre Company’s volunteer organization announces its third annual Drama Queens on the Green event. Drama Queens on the Green is a theatrical fashion show and tea party featuring Emmy-winning designs by “Dancing with the Stars” Randall Christensen, modern fashions by Phoenix designer Galina, and costumes from past ATC productions. This lively and elegant event will take place on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 3 PM at the Phoenician, 6000 E. Camelback Road in Scottsdale.

Drama Queens on the Green is co-chaired by Scott Jacobson, Renee Nail and KC Skinner. This season’s models include the following leading ladies and gentlemen of the Valley: Kathleen Brewer, Jennifer Dioguardi, Joanie Flatt, Harriet Friedland, Debbie Gaby, Mary and John Garbaciak, Gasper Genovese, Lynn Grafman, Joy Johnson, Jennifer and Eddie Matney, Anne Merete Robbs, Karen Overton, Cheryl Shonk, Range Shaw, Sandy Trznadel and Lisa Urias.

Randall Christensen became involved in the dance scene in 1976 while attending Brigham Young University. Soon after, he returned home and began teaching competitive ballroom dance at the local Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Columbia, South Carolina. After a year of teaching in South Carolina, Christensen transferred to Phoenix, Arizona where he taught and competed in both Professional and Pro-Am divisions. Working out of a spare bedroom he began learning the art of design, cutting and constructing ball gowns and Latin dresses. During this time, his reputation as a costume designer was becoming more widespread. In 1985 Christensen knew his future lay in costume design and manufacturing. Going into partnership with Henry Vela, Together they formed "Designs by Randall". Currently, Randall Christensen is the costume designer for ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” for which he won an Emmy Award.

A native of Bulgaria, Galina Mihaleva brought her creative talents to the U.S. in 1992 as a Phoenix College student. Before emigrating, she earned a master’s degree from the competitive Academie of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. Currently, she works as costume designer for ASU’s Department of Dance and as an adjunct professor for Phoenix College’s Fashion Design Program. Mihaleva is also a prolific fashion designer whose clients include rock band Sister Sledge and choreographer Trisha Brown. Her designs have appeared on the Spanish language version of “Project Runway” and in publications such as Yes, East Valley Tribune, Trends and Lucire.

The ATC Associates’ mission is to engage its members in the life of the theatre; to fully support ATC’s productions, programs and fiscal stability; and to help in raising awareness of ATC throughout the community.

DUDES, DOLLS AND DIVAS - TUCSON
The Arizona Theatre Company Associates, Arizona Theatre Company's volunteer organization, announces its first annual Dudes, Dolls and Divas event in Tucson.

Dudes, Dolls and Divas is a theatrical fashion show featuring modern fashions from Tucson’s Firenze Boutique-Armani and costumes from past ATC productions. This lively and elegant event will take place on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 3:30 PM in the courtyard of the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Avenue.

Dudes, Dolls and Divas is chaired by Dr. Mary Jo Ghory. This season's models include the following leading ladies and gentlemen of Tucson: Roberto Guajardo and Kathleen Allen, Natalie Bohnet, Paul and Vicki Chandler, Paul and Mary Koss, Kevin Moore, Julia Sasse, Maurice and Shirley Sevigny and Gerry and Bette Zatuchni. Additional models to be announced.

The ATC Associates' mission is to engage its members in the life of the theatre; to fully support ATC's productions, programs and fiscal stability; and to help in raising awareness of ATC throughout the community.
