The (Wo)Man Behind the Curtain

Eileen Bagnall, Facilities Manager and Accessibility Coordinator

Where were you born?
I’m a Tucson native, no really.

When and how did you first come to work for ATC?
I started while in grad school at the UA as the house manager in the Leo Rich Theater.

What’s the most interesting/complex event that’s been planned or come through in your time here?
The opening week of the Temple of Music and Art was incredible. We held an open house and fine arts festival in the street on our opening weekend. Prior to every performance the first week we had a local arts group perform in the Courtyard.

How has ATC changed over your years here?
Well, we’ve grown in terms of staffing and budgets. I was here during the year in which the theatre almost closed. So it’s great to see that we have come through that time and are now more financially secure.

What’s the largest event fiasco you’ve ever had to deal with?
No fiascos but some fairly amusing stories. Last summer we had a small wedding on site that was delayed because the limo driver forgot to pick up the bride and her bridesmaids. The worst part of it was that the groom actually worked for the limo company.

You’ve had many different titles and jobs during your time with ATC – what positions have you held and which was the most challenging?
I have been the House Manager, Company Manager, Facilities Manger and Accessibility Coordinator. The most challenging would be Company Manager.

Do you have any specific favorite memory of your time at ATC?
The benefit concerts we did for the Waldorf School with Linda Ronstadt were amazing events. The concerts would sell out each year and Linda was wonderful to work with and so gracious.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Cook with my daughter.

Do you have any children? If yes, what are their names and how old are they?
Claire, age 8.

If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation where would you go?
Back to Gamrie Bay in Scotland
