From the Directors
Dear ATC Supporters,
Welcome to Arizona Theatre Company’s 40th Anniversary Season! The year ahead is bursting with promise, potential and some significant changes within the company. We are very excited to share them with you and take a peek at what new horizons lie ahead!
One of my primary goals during my eleven-year tenure at Arizona Theatre Company has been to ensure the financial stability and security of our organization in perpetuity. As the theatre has grown over the years and become larger and more complex, the day-to-day operations of the company have naturally taken precedence and have not allowed me to adequately focus enough on longer term goals. Following discussions with Artistic Director David Goldstein and members of the Board of Trustees and by thinking creatively about our unique multi-city organization, we have restructured the executive positions in a way that will strengthen our administration and support the powerful work that you see on our stages.
As of July 1, I have assumed the newly-created position of Executive Director. My job will focus exclusively on organization-wide programs and planning that will keep our theatre fiscally healthy and structurally strong. I’ll be working to move the theatre forward through a new strategic plan, on preparing and implementing a major gifts campaign, on strengthening ongoing Board development, and on building stronger relationships with our current and future donors.
Kevin Moore, previously our General Manager, has been appointed as the Managing Director. He has been a member of ATC’s senior management staff for seven years and has proven himself to be capable, creative and invaluable in our day-to-day operations. ATC is extremely fortunate to have someone with Kevin’s knowledge and experience already in a senior management position and prepared to assume these duties.
Also, in recognition of the ever-increasing role that our Director of Production, John Kingsbury, has played in the creation and implementation of our theatre seasons, his title will change to Producing Director. Over the past seven years, John has shepherded all of our shows from the planning stages to closing night, often in partnership with theatre managers and artists from across the country and around the world.
Kevin and John have been industry leaders. They have helped to give ATC an ever increasing local and national reputation as one of America’s great regional theatres. As ATC has increased our reach to three cities and three venues, they have been instrumental in balancing all the thousands of details that go into planning and producing. I have no doubt whatsoever that ATC will be in excellent hands with Kevin and John taking on these new duties as part of our leadership team.
Given these recent changes along with the continued artistic leadership of David Goldstein (who celebrates his fifteenth season at ATC in 2006-2007), I am more confident than ever that ATC will be able to garner the resources that will allow it to rise to ever higher levels of accomplishment. With your help, we are setting ATC on a course for the future that will guarantee our ability to bring the best artists to our stages and produce strong, innovative programming for generations to come.
Sincerely,
Jessica L. Andrews
Executive Director
