Student Matinee Information:
The arts have far-reaching potential to help students achieve education goals.
Dance, music, theatre and visual arts are everywhere in our lives, adding depth and dimension to the environment we live in and shaping our experiences, often so deeply or subtly that we are unaware of their presence. In any civilization, the arts are inseparable from the very meaning of the term "education." - Arizona Department of Education "Rationale Statement for the Arts."
Every educator knows that the arts are necessary for a complete education. Classics, cutting edge drama, grand musicals-ATC offers a range of theatrical experiences relevant inside the classroom and out. Outreach programs, educational opportunities and accessibility initiatives exist to enrich and connect our patrons of all ages and backgrounds. Join us for our 2008-2009 Season for the lesson of a lifetime!

Theatre Etiquette:
Please take a few moments to go over the following guidelines with your students concerning appropriate theatre etiquette. Please emphasize to your students that while this is both an entertaining and educational event, there are certain guidelines that will make the performance more enjoyable for everyone.
No gum, food or drinks will be allowed in the theater.
The Temple of Music and Art is a beautiful facility and will stay beautiful if the above rule is enforced. This insures that no damage will be done to the facility, even if by accident.
No backpacks or large purses will be allowed in the theatre.
These items must be stored in the lobby during the performance.
No pagers, cellular phones, radios, recording devices or cameras will be allowed in the theater.
Pagers, cellular phones and radios are prohibited. In accordance with Actor's Equity Union Rules, there will be no cameras or recording devices admitted into the theater. Please feel free to take pictures outside of the theater, but all cameras must be stored with the house manager during the show.
No throwing of foreign objects.
Throwing foreign objects or spitting from the balcony or onto the stage will not be tolerated. Please remind students that there are live people on stage, focused on performing the best possible show.
Respect.
Ultimately, relay to your students that they need to respect themselves as well as the people around them. Any type of disruptive behavior will ruin the performance for everyone in the theatre. Even though the students are not in a classroom, this is still a learning activity which requires courtesy and attention. Please react to the events on stage but all students must conduct themselves with respect and dignity, everyone is sure to enjoy the play.
